Well I went this year after a five year absence and was kind of disappointed with the performance of some very expensive speakers. Compared to my highly tweaked A7s, most of them suffered from congestion in the mid-range and bloated bass. In somes cases the room may have been the culprit, in others maybe it was the speakers.
The only horn speaker I was able to listen to was the Acapella, left me disappointed. The mid-range congestion made it difficult to understand the lyrics.
One horn speaker I really wanted to hear was the Bentwood setup, impressive display, size of A7s with a humongous center sub-woofer, static display only, too bad.

The subwoofer looks a lot like a "scaled up" Klipsch Jubilee.

The only sound Expo worth while is the Namm show in Anaheim, CA..

There wou will learn all the latest in sound technology.Montreal has very few sound engineers of high caliber.We do a lot of ADR and Foley for cartoons. That might be of a surprise to you. All Pro performers (rock group)that come to this town bring their own technicians for FOH, Broadcasting. Monitoring. Even TV broadcast is done by them. Only a few local tech know what an Altec 515B is.They don't know how to use trehshold on a compressor and what overtones are and it's relationship to EQ.

We are a city of equipment provider.

I have little interest in what goes on at NAMM, even though I'm a long time guitarist. Although I would love to hear some of the gear being produce by Danley Sound Labs, SH-60 would be neat to listen to.

No, I zipped through the event, had a good idea of what I wanted to listen to, didn't bother with anything else. The layout of the hotel was very confusing, multiple half levels, shorts stair way, ramps. Total nightmare in an emergency event.
